Setting up the Design
With the help of EMBIRD EDITOR (Embird 2006 basic program) or any other similar program:
- Edit Hamsa10 from the Hamsa Appliqué Machine Embroidery Designs. I used only the outside part of the design. Change the third color of your design to the color of your choice.
- Insert 2 edited Hamsahs in the 5x7 editing box.
- Resize the apple and the Pomegranate from Rosh Hashanah Machine Embroidery Designs set to fit inside each Hamsa.
- Change the apple and the Pomegranate colors to the same color as the Hamsah.
- In the edit dialog box: click on Select all, click on smart color sort.
- Save.
- Transfer design to your machine.
Preparing the Fabric
- Place shiny adhesive side of the Light weight Iron-on backing against wrong side of the fabric.
- Use a hot, dry iron to fuse the backing to the fabric.
Hooping the Hand Towel
- Fold the towel in half (length wise) and Iron the inside fold. This will facilitate placing the towel in the hoop.
- Place the towel on the Tear Away Stabilizer.
- Put the Water soluble Stabilizer on top of the towel.
- Hoop all layers together.
Embroidering the Design
I REMOVED THE EMBROIDERY FOOT BEFORE ATTACHING THE HOOP TO THE MACHINE AND BEFORE REMOVING THE HOOP, TO PREVENT IT FROM BRACKING
- Place the fabric right side up in the hoop.
- Stitch only the first 2 outline colors.
- Remove hoop from the machine.
- Re-attach the hoop.
- Finish embroidering the design.
Trim the fabric around the Hamsahs with a curved embroidery scissor.
Remove hoop from the machine.
Trim excess thread from the front and the back of the towel.
Tear away excess stabilizers.
