Setting up the Design

With the help of EMBIRD EDITOR (Embird 2006 basic program) or any other similar program:

  1. Edit Hamsa10 from the Hamsa Appliqué Machine Embroidery Designs. I used only the outside part of the design. Change the third color of your design to the color of your choice.
  2. Insert 2 edited Hamsahs in the 5x7 editing box.
  3. Resize the apple and the Pomegranate from Rosh Hashanah Machine Embroidery Designs set to fit inside each Hamsa.
  4. Change the apple and the Pomegranate colors to the same color as the Hamsah.
  5. In the edit dialog box: click on Select all, click on smart color sort.
  6. Save.
  7. Transfer design to your machine.

Preparing the Fabric

  1. Place shiny adhesive side of the Light weight Iron-on backing against wrong side of the fabric.
  2. Use a hot, dry iron to fuse the backing to the fabric.

Hooping the Hand Towel

  1. Fold the towel in half (length wise) and Iron the inside fold. This will facilitate placing the towel in the hoop.
  2. Place the towel on the Tear Away Stabilizer.
  3. Put the Water soluble Stabilizer on top of the towel.
  4. Hoop all layers together.

Embroidering the Design

I REMOVED THE EMBROIDERY FOOT BEFORE ATTACHING THE HOOP TO THE MACHINE AND BEFORE REMOVING THE HOOP, TO PREVENT IT FROM BRACKING

  1. Place the fabric right side up in the hoop.
  2. Stitch only the first 2 outline colors.
  3. Remove hoop from the machine.

  4. Trim the fabric around the Hamsahs with a curved embroidery scissor.

  5. Re-attach the hoop.
  6. Finish embroidering the design.

Remove hoop from the machine.

Trim excess thread from the front and the back of the towel.

Tear away excess stabilizers.
